海の覇者
アラビアンナイトに登場するシンドバッドはオマーン人とされ、七つの海を冒険した伝説の船乗りとして、今も語り継がれています。
時は8世紀の、インド洋の広大な海上交易で主役となったのがペルシャ湾を中心とするイスラム商人たちです。
オマーンは戦略的な立地と優れた航海技術で季節風を巧みに利用し「海洋帝国」として繁栄。
乳香が海を渡り、東方からはインドの香辛料や中国の陶磁器がもたらされました。
やがて東アフリカから地中海へとつながる「海のシルクロード」と呼ばれる壮大な交易ネットワークを築いていったのです。かつてシンドバッドたちが海を越えて文化や宝物を運んだように、ELSĪWAHも好奇心と驚きを胸に、新たな物語を世界へ届ける存在でありたいと願っています。
Sinbad from Arabian Nights is said to have originated in Oman. In the 8th century, Arab merchants played a major role in maritime trade across the Indian Ocean. Particularly, Oman became a maritime powerhouse due to its strategic location and superior sailing skills using the monsoon winds. Frankincense was exported across the world and spices from India and ceramics from China journeyed in return. Over time, Oman built a vast trading network stretching from East Africa to the Mediterranean, the route known as “Maritime Silk Road.”
As Sinbad reflects this rich heritage, ELSĪWAH wishes to become a modern voyager carrying the spirit and treasures of cultural heritage to the world.
